Instagram: get better visibility for posts in the feed

All those who deal more often with social media marketing and the associated channels know it: sometimes the response to a post is great, another time it could run better. Especially on Instagram, some people notice that once again something must have changed in the algorithm.

However, post visibility and relevance can be improved with a few tricks.

Increasing visibility for posts with an interesting description

Instagram basically lets the user decide whether a post or a picture/video/reel is displayed. However, the algorithm also counts the length of stay as a sign of interest on the part of the user.

It is therefore true that a user automatically spends more time with a video or reel than with an image. However, the dwell time for images can be increased, for example, by a longer and interesting image description. In the best case, a user stays longer on the post and Instagram takes this as a positive sign, so that the post is displayed higher up in the feed.

Call-to-actions: important on Instagram also

In performance marketing, call-to-actions are mostly used in SEA and SEO. However, these can also be useful for Instagram, because Instagram also counts user engagement for better visibility. Therefore, users should be asked to like and comment. Here, the engagement is increased and the visibility in the feed is improved.

Post attention grabbing images

With the mass of images that flow into the user every day, it can happen that one or the other post gets lost and overlooked. All the better to stand out from the crowd. By posting attention-grabbing images or unusual motifs – creativity is called for here.

Interesting videos, reels or IGTV posts

To attract the attention of users, it is worthwhile to post interesting videos, reels or IGTV posts every now and then. These should offer the user added value. It is a good idea to touch on gripping and interesting topics in order to surprise the users. In the best case, they will be “captivated” so that they are encouraged to like, comment and stay.

In summary, these points mean, for your visibility, that you need to increase the dwell time on your posts to be displayed more often in the feed of your subscribers, this can be implemented againrum with the most diverse measures.
