Know and understand users
If you want to achieve more with your website than simply being present, you can use tracking tools. Because only if you can see who is on the page and what the person is doing there, you can improve the page and thus achieve your business goals. Otherwise, you can’t measure the effect of changes on the website and you don’t know what each action brought.
Measure important user interactions
Besides the usual visitor data (number of users, sessions, bounce rates, etc.), there are a number of other data that can be measured. One is any relevant action users perform on the site. This can be, for example, downloads of files, contact requests or online purchases. On the other hand, you should collect data such as age and gender, up to buying interests of the users. Both in combination can be used in online campaigns to play out the campaign to the users who are actually interested in the services or the product. This minimizes wastage and achieves the goals faster.
For the analysis there are a number of web analytics tools that can be used and thus also different tracking methods. If you use other tools from Google, it makes sense to summarize the data of all channels centrally in the free tool Google Analytics. If the website uses different tracking tools, it can make sense to work with the Google Tag Manager, for example. There, third-party tools can be integrated without much effort and without having to adapt the website code later.
Since the tracking tools work on a cookie basis, it is also important to check the data protection agreement in this context. The information should be stored there and tracking should only be started at the request of the user. (Opt-In)
Since we have already carried out the technical implementation many times, we can help with this at any time.
Evaluate key figures and improve business goals
By evaluating the click behavior on the website, you gain valuable information about what works on the website and what you should possibly change. This allows you to test and change specific measures that will bring the website forward in the long term and, for example, generate more inquiries or sales. Through the continuous process of evaluation and optimization, you can then permanently increase your business goals.
