The Google Webmaster Guidelines are guidelines set by search engine providers such as Google or Bing. These guidelines are intended to give webmasters and website operators advice on how the website should be optimized so that it optimally meets user needs. Of course, it is mainly about user-friendliness, but also to comply with certain criteria that Google specifies for a value-added website.
Google Webmaster Guidelines in detail
The guidelines by Google are divided into two sections. This is the division into general guidelines and quality guidelines:
- General guidelines: this section is again divided by Google into three sections: Crawling, Indexing and Usability. Here it is particularly important how the crawler can find URLs better or recognize and index content better. The third part deals mainly with the measures around the safe and easy use of the website.
- Quality guidelines: Here Google is very clear – content should be created for users and not for the search engine. Above all, supposed spam should be reported and avoided on one’s own website.
