Keyword analysis is a strategic research and part of the SEO – measure to identify key or search terms on a particular topic, which are preferably entered by the target audience in the Google search engine.
Keywords can be divided into three categories: Short Tail Keywords, Mid Tail Keywords and Long Tail Keywords.
- Short tail keywords are very short search terms such as “coat” and their search volume is usually very high.
- Mid Tail Keywords are more specific like “buy coat” and have a medium search volume.
- Long Tail Keywords are long, specific search terms/questions like “buy ladies cashmere coat”. Their search volume is therefore mostly low.
With the Coversion Rate it is the other way around Short Tail Keywords have a low conversion rate, Mid Tail Keywords have a medium conversion rate and Long Tail Keywords have a high conversion rate.

It would be optimal to optimize keywords that have a high search volume, low competition, good positioning and a good CPC. On most SEO tools you can export the keyword list using a CSV export and then edit and optimize it.
