Hi! My name is Katerina, and I am Hello Performance’s second intern. I am 21 years old and currently studying Marketing Management at the Business Academy South West in Denmark.
My Academy requires students to have 10-week Internship as part of the fourth semester and that is why I am here 😊. Sadly, my Internship in Hello Performance came to end but let’s see how my journey has been.
It all started in the beginning of September 2020, when I started freaking out about not having an internship that should start in the beginning of January (yes, I like to stress myself months in advance). Finding an internship is always stressful and challenging but during COVID-19 times, the challenge became even bigger.
My process of applying for internships included writing Cover Letter, CV and then sending it to Marketing agencies located in Frankfurt and nearby. I think Hello Performance was between the first eight companies I contacted. I was surprised by Marco’s fast responses and flexibility when discussing the date and time my Zoom interview would take place. After our first interview I got a promise of staying in touch and see how the company’s situation will turn out in few weeks.
In the meantime, I continued with the search but in the back of my mind I still hoped that I will be able to come to Hello Performance as I wanted to learn about online marketing specifically and because both Marco and Janni seemed really friendly during the interview.
After few months Marco and I got into contact again and luckily, I was able to join Hello Performance! A lot of papers had to be filled out as my internship abroad was taken as an Erasmus programme, but Marco was really patient and kind, so everything was done before the deadline.
After getting a bit lost on my way, on Monday, January 11th, 2021 I have finally arrived at the office and got to meet both Janni and Marco personally. I was welcomed by balloons and bonbons and thought to myself that the next weeks will be great experience. The first day was only about getting to know each other and presenting Hello Performance to me. My working week was divided, so from Monday to Wednesday I was working physically in the office and Thursdays and Fridays were spent in home office.
- Week 1: Analysis (Keyword, Competitor, Market, Target Group)
- Week 2 & 3: Tracking
- Week 4: Website/CRO
- Week 5 & 6: SEO
- Week 7 & 8: Paid Media
- Week 9: Sales
- Week 10: Internship recap
During my stay I was able to work individually on given tasks thanks to Marco’s and Janni’s explanation of what each task means and its necessity. Other tasks that were not included in the week’s topic was for example creating reports for clients, dashboarding (my love-hate relationship still stands with this task haha) or translating pages to English version and such.
I would like to point out the personal approach that I valued a lot. When Marco and Janni found out that it will be my birthday the second week of my stay and I won’t be able to celebrate it properly because of Corona, they tried and made my day special by giving me gifts and lovely wishes, even though it was very soon into my stay and didn’t know me well. I always felt like I was member of the team and that my opinions are valued and not overlooked.
To conclude I must say that you do not often meet people that are experts in their field, professional and also have funny and lovely personalities. I am incredibly happy to have spent my internship at Hello Performance and I would like to thank Janni and Marco a million times for luckily being nice, giving me their time and energy and for answering my questions (there were a lot and not all of them were smart haha).
PS: If you are thinking about applying for an internship in Hello Performance, make sure you have good music taste – you will be asked to be the DJ of the office.
Mit Liebe
Katerina
