Keyword research, also known as keyword analysis, is an integral part of search engine optimization and search engine advertising. It is the basis of all performance marketing activities and essential for the alignment of the own SEO strategy.
Benefit and goal of keyword research
The goal is to rank on Google for the right keywords and keyword combinations that cover the user’s intentions, and thus to direct targeted traffic to the website. This involves researching meaningful keywords, or “keywords”, sought by users for a specific website or topic. These are then integrated into the content of the page so that the keywords and their combinations rank for relevant search queries in the search results.
Important to consider are search volume of the respective keywords and the strength of the competition. If these two factors seem appropriate for your own website, it makes sense to use the keyword.
The research itself is primarily about collecting terms for the topic area. These should consist of short-tail as well as long-tail keywords. Also, as already mentioned, the competition must not be disregarded. Subsequently, various tools, but above all the keyword planner, can provide information about the frequency of the search.
