Increasingly, you can see Google displaying search results from the web for businesses in Google Maps local search results. We went in search of clues and made similar discoveries:
Where can the web results be found?
To see the web results, you need to go to a business listing in Google Maps. If you scroll down past the company information to the bottom, you will find the entry “Web results”.
Web results in local search
Google usually tends to separate web results and local search results. However, there was already overlap before that: Google already displayed website mentions in the local results. In addition, Google also uses web search algorithms for local search to match results.
Why this insight is important
In case one or the other potential customer scrolls all the way down while looking at your Google My Business profile and comes across the web results, they should be coherent and look neat if possible. If inappropriate or incorrect results are found here, this could be an exclusion criterion for potential customers.
