Google’s algorithm is continuously improved and updated. Thus, the regular updates on the part of Google are changes and updates to Google’s algorithm. The various updates are given names such as “Mobile Update”, “Phantom Update” or “Freshness Update”. At the same time, the names allow conclusions to be drawn about the intention of the respective update. The goal of Google updates is always to ensure the topicality, quality and relevance of search results. At the same time, spam is combated or eliminated by the search engine.
History of Google Updates
Since 1998, numerous Google updates have been released. One of the most drastic was rolled out in 2015 with the “Mobilegeddon” update. Since this update, mobile-friendly websites in particular are given preference in the display of search results.
Of course, Panda, Penguin, Hummingbird and Pigeon were no less important. Especially since Panda, there is clearly an end to keyword chaos and Google rewards unique content.
Other important updates are the so-called Google Core Updates. These keep popping up in Google’s history over the years. As the name suggests, these are changes to the search engine’s core algorithm.
One thing is certain: any website can be affected by an update by Google. Therefore, as with all Google updates, one’s website can only hold its own if Google guidelines are adhered to. Above all, attention should be paid to useful, unique content.
